Waste collections for disabled persons
If you are finding it difficult to move your bins to the front of your property on collection day (and there is no one else in your household that can help) then you may be eligible for what is known as an Assisted Collection.
This service is designed to help Sutton residents who struggle physically to move their bins. We may also be able to provide help on a temporary basis (for people recovering from an operation, for example) or on a long-term basis (to help residents with a permanent disability).
If you are eligible, then we will agree on a location in your front garden where our collection crews will collect your bins from. They will return them to this location after they’ve been emptied.
Please be aware that all waste and recycling containers should be left permanently stored within the front of the property to allow collection crews to access them on the day of collection. Collection crews will not collect bins, boxes or caddies that are situated behind gates, to the side/rear of a property, or where steps are in place. We are unable to offer the Assisted Collection Service to communal properties or those on the Flats Above Shops Bag Service or Kerbside Bags Service.
Please call us on 020 8770 5000 to discuss your needs and to see if you are eligible for the Assisted Collection Service. Alternatively you can email us at neighbourhoodservices@sutton.gov.uk.
