EYFS Sessions
Backyard Beasties EYFS
An introduction to minibeasts and where they live. Pupils investigate the pond and woodland using simple equipment. Alternatively, combine with The Fab Five instead of investigating the pond.
The Fab Five EYFS
Through a variety of games and activities, children get practical experience of:
- exploring the world around them through their senses and,
- learning which part of the body is associated with each sense
The Very Curious Caterpillar
Plants and nature are brought to life as pupils follow Curious on an adventure through the Ecology Centre. This uses story, puppets and fun hands-on activities. An introduction to the plant life cycle and what plants need to grow.
Key Stage 1 Sessions
Backyard Beasties KS1
An excellent introduction to habitats. Pupils investigate the woodland or meadow and pond through:
- minibeast hunting
- pond dipping and games
- using simple equipment
Earth Care KS1
Learn the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Looking at different materials, pupils take part in:
- recycling games
- compost investigations, and
- paper making
Mad About Maps
This session brings the flat world of maps to life. Learn practical geography skills such as map reading, map making, and finding landmarks.
Science Through the Seasons
Ideal for Autumn and Spring, but available in all seasons, pupils:
- make observations and weather recordings
- become weather reporters, and
- search for signs of the season
The Fab Five
Through a variety of games and activities, children get practical experience of:
- exploring the world around them through their senses and,
- learning which part of the body is associated with each sense
The Great Green Plant Adventure
Take your class on a voyage of discovery. Learn:
- how plants grow from seeds
- the life cycle of a plant
- different parts of a plant through games, stories, and a plant hunt
