Manor Road closure

Friday 13 December

Works are now complete to make safe the dangerous structure in Manor Road, Wallington and the unsafe front wall has been taken down.

Manor Road is now open to traffic again. We would like to thank all local residents and businesses for their patience while these works have taken place.

The junction with Queen's Road will remain closed this weekend but should reopen early next week once the work equipment has been removed. The bus stop remains closed for now.

Update: Thursday 5 December

We know how frustrating the continued closure of Manor Road, Wallington is for residents and businesses.

Because this is a privately-owned building, making the site safe is the responsibility of the Health & Safety Executive and the building owner. The Council is working closely with both to get the necessary works completed as soon as possible.

Our first priority is the protection of nearby residents and passers-by from a dangerous building. We continue to do all we can to ensure that the road reopens as soon as possible and will keep you updated as to progress.

Thursday 28 November

Due to the high winds last weekend, we had to close Manor Road in Wallington because of an unsafe building. The area was made secure and the road was partly closed to traffic.

Unfortunately, the road closure will need to remain in place until works to make the site safe are completed by the owner. Traffic diversions are in place and we are providing additional signage for drivers. The Council is doing all it can to make sure the building's owner secures the site as soon as possible and the closure can be lifted. In the meantime, please avoid the area if you can.

We apologise for the continued disruption this road closure is causing. The safety of our residents is our continued priority.
