We have secured Transport for London (TfL) funding for the Beddington North TfL Major Scheme project. This is being matched by Sutton Council funds, as we have developed designs for the Beddington North Major Scheme.
We're running this scheme:
- in partnership with TfL, and
- in consultation with the local community and business improvement district
Beddington Lane and Hilliers Lane
Our designs focus on delivering improvements to Beddington Lane and Hilliers Lane. We aim to make it better for pedestrians and cyclists, and provide more travel choices for local businesses and residents. The project will also significantly enhance the appearance of the area.
You can view the final proposal and illustrative drawings as the works are taking place:
- Beddington Village
- Cycle Lane and Asda junction
- Asda Junction (To reduce congestion and shorten journey times for vehicles)
- Beddington Lane Tram Stop
The artist impression design specifications are subject to change.
Beddington Village
The first phase of the scheme construction was in the Beddington Village area. This started on 26 February 2018 and completed in late 2018.
Emergency works
During early 2020/21, there have been several emergency works carried out by UKPN and SGN. These had an impact on the Beddington North Major Scheme works, and delayed the programme.
While SGN continue to complete their works we are ready to recommence the project. We aim to work alongside them.
We are working in partnership with RJ Dance and works are currently underway near the Beddington Lane Tram Stop.
As the construction programme progresses, we will put in place road closures to:
- ensure the safety of our workforce and
- reduce the length of time for construction
We plan to utilise a rolling road closure to limit the extent of disruption to the area of Beddngton Lane. This will begin in October 2021 until March 2022. You can find information on the temporary road closures on:
