What you’ll need to do if you want to teach your child at home.

You can teach your child at home, either full or part-time. This is called home education.

What you’ll need to do

If you choose to home educate your child, it is your responsibility to provide a curriculum suitable for your child's:

  • age
  • abilities
  • skills and,
  • any special education needs

What we need to to

We make sure that all children are getting a suitable education at home, as we have a responsibility to safeguard children in Sutton. 

We’ll ask for details of your education plan and make regular monitoring visits.

What we can’t do

We do not provide any support to educate your child at home, this includes:

  • any materials
  • tutors
  • funding including free school meals
