Since 2016, we have been conducting a borough-wide review of parking measures in Sutton. We have consulted over 90,000 residents on a range of parking proposals.

As a result:

  • 20 parking permit schemes have been installed, amended, or extended

  • 11 free bay schemes have been implemented

Parking remains one of the issues of most concern to residents. We have received many further requests for a review of parking arrangements in streets across Sutton.

We will continue to review new parking requests and issues received from residents, businesses, and councillors. This will ensure that we are:

  • managing parking effectively
  • prioritising parking for local people
  • identifying new areas where parking pressures emerge

What is left to deliver

We are currently reviewing a further 300 requests for parking changes.

We measure requests for parking changes against set criteria. These are:

  • prioritising road safety
  • levels of resident/councillor support 
  • where access issues have been highlighted by the emergency services or waste and recycling services
  • where measures might support sustainable transport options
  • where commuter parking or congestion is an issue

Streets currently under consultation

Worcester Park South

Following a formal consultation in November 2024 we received further suggested amendments for parking proposals for Kingsmead Ave/Knolls Close.

Letters have been sent to residents outlining the formal traffic management order proposals. 

The formal stage of this consultation closes on 24 April 2025. We will then review the feedback before we decide whether or not to implement the proposals.

At this stage we are proceeding with implementing proposals for double yellow lines outside Nos 86-88 Kingsmead Ave; single yellow line waiting restrictions (operating Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm) at multiple locations on Dalmeny Road and extending a short section of double yellow lines on Dalmeny Road (adjacent to 138 Oaks Avenue).

Park Lane CPZ Cheam

On April 10 2025, we closed an informal consultation gathering initial feedback from residents in Cheam.

Letters were sent to local residents outlining parking proposals for a controlled parking zone (CPZ) in Park Lane.

We will now review the feedback before we decide whether or not we take the proposals to statutory consultation.

Shrubland Grove PPA North Cheam

On April 10, 2025 we closed an informal consultation gathering initial feedback from residents in North Cheam.

Letters were sent to local residents outlining parking proposals for a permit parking area (PPA) in Shrubland Grove.

We will now review the feedback before we decided whether or not to take any proposals to a formal statutory consultation.

St Helier East

Following a review of the PPA and ongoing consultation with local councillors we proposed to reduce the area of the current CA1 PPA by creating a new PPA CA3 with reduced operating hours.
